The Brown Christmas is an unique ambrosia of free form jazz, minimalism, circus music, synth pop, industrial, noise, and the occasional sarcastic hardcore punk breakdown. We pick up the left over debris of music, throw it all together in a bag, light it on fire, and leave it on your doorstep.

Biography

Heavily influenced by The Residents, Frank Zappa, Captain Beefheart, Danny Elfman, and ZZ Top. The Brown Christmas formed as a result of three friends who didn’t know how to play music but hated what they were hearing on the radio. They knew they had to do something so they started grabbing any instruments they could find and pounding on them until sound came out. They started off with a bass, a saxophone, some toy keyboards, one amp, and a beat up tape player with a built in microphone. They eventually saved up enough money for a digital multitrack recorder and began feverishly recording music. They put out new albums whenever they want. Almost all of the songs on their albums are improvised. CD’s are handed out for free at shows, hidden in random CD players, handed out to crazy people on the streets, or left in conspicuous places for people to find. In their live performances they try to get the audience involved with group drum freak out finales. They silk screen shirts (as well as other clothing they found in the trash) and give them to random fans. They’ve been played on WFMU. They don’t intend to stop until everyone knows about The Brown Christmas or they destroy themselves, which ever comes first.

Joemazing- "The noise kids don’t like us because we’re too punk rock. The punk rock kids don’t like us because we’re too punk rock. The hipster kids love us because they like shitty music."
